I really do hate getting sucked into new transformers lines. For a while now I've been hearing about trading cards for them. Didn't think twice. Thought the pics were really cool, but not really my style. Magic/Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh! didn't entice me at all to run out and buy them. My daughter owns a few dozen Pokemon cards only because I got her into the show. Opening up the packs was exciting just to see her face when she got a Pokemon she knows lol! For me it was eh, not bad. More to see the look on her face, and squeal that she got a Bulbasaur :)
Transformers now had to come out with a trading card game. UGH!! Up until yesterday when I was walking in Target I saw a large display stand promoting it. Of course I stopped to look at it. Come running is this guy, no lie, from a basement. Beard just as long as Gandalf!! Smelled musty as hell! Kindly moves me to grab a handful of these packs. I stood there in disbelief wondering what just happened. Believe it or not he got my attention. It's like that spark from The Flash touched me, and told me "Pete, you MUST buy them!" I grabbed a few. I also picked up the started kit that has Optimus/Bumblebee/Red Alert/Iron Hide. Threw them on the couch in the basement for a rainy day to open them up. Let's jump to now...I bought a box haha I own 24 of the 40 Character cards, and 68 of the 81 battle cards. Ahhhhhh!!!! And the searching will now begin. As Pokemon would say... "Gotta catch them all!" I'll have pics, and a list of them shortly. Growing up and watching Transformers was something never seen in the cartoon world. Think about it...cars/planes, and everything else transform to robots that fight! It was incredible! Completely sucked me in the minute I saw a mac truck! Let alone; it transformed into one of the most powerful robots on earth!! Now lets move on to the 90's...Beast wars! If you were fascinated about vehicles transforming, what about animals?! It took transformers into a completely difference category for cartoons. If I remember correctly it was the 1st computer animated show to hit TV. It was a great show! Dinosaurs, Gorillas, Cheetahs, and a talking rat! How does that not sound enticing to watch haha
To the main part of my blog, just released are prototype pics of BW Megs!! He looks absolutely amazing!! I'm shaking of excitement seeing the pics released of him. He's going to have a hefty price tag, but he will be standing next to my Masterpiece Optimus Primal! If you been watching the Machinima's series I HIGHLY recommend it! I'm not going to give any spoilers, but we finally get what we have been waiting for!!! Great episode!! Click here to watch it on go90 app.
As of yesterday we finally got a full look of Power of the Primes Predaking! He is my second most anticipated combiner in the whole Combiner Wars/Titans Return/Power of the Primes series. Devastator of course is by far my favorite combiner through all the years. I'm super stoked to have him in my possession!
One thing that I've noticed with all of the combiners being released is that they don't have their weapons!! Where is his large gold sword???!!! I'm sure a 3rd party like Perfect Effect will come out with one, but really Hasbro!! I was definitely disappointed in Grimlock, who becomes Volcanicus that he didn't get his flame sword! Perfect Effect came through once again to give him that Grimlock retro look he deserves. No matter what Predaking will end up next to the rest of my combiners. When I first laid eyes on the sneak peek pics I wanted him immediately. I just couldn't wait for him to be released. The masterpiece collections are far superior to any other line of transformers. Any collector should have them part of their collection. Sun streaker is definitely one of those "must-have" transformers.
He is amazing awesome!! Takara hit him right now, and then some. I can not believe the detail. One thing that I've been nervous about for the past few masterpieces is that they are super sensitive. DO NOT pull or push on any of the parts. This one especially since they have plastic piece between certain jobs so that they don't rub. It appears that they are painted surfaces that could chip off if not transformed correctly. All said and done...BUY IT!! All my masterpieces are labeled with Toyhax stickers. They give them the childhood feeling of the G1 look. I know I'm a few days late to this but.....YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
Let's break it down for a bit. Lettering is the most notable change. It's totally different than the "transformers script" in the previous 4 movies. Who is the last knight? It appears that the sword that is in the title is the one that Optimus found on the alien ship. I'm guessing he is the last knight?! But it can't be because he ends up in Age of Extinction heading into space looking for its owner. hmmmm......Let the hunting begin. As life takes me from place to place, it gets a lot more exciting. This is my 3rd house that I've owned and all 3 times I've had a chance to display my prize possessions. Now I've only had "The Vault" to show off my life gathering of plastic crack; never a 2nd half of a house. Let me start by saying that I have the most amazing wife. Not only is she into my greek-ness; she invites it into the house. She is a Star Wars fan so of course I had to incorporate some of that into the geek cave.
Most of the pics I have below are self explained. Let me explain what is going on over the couch...ALL LEGOS/KREONs!! Two outside larger displays are all transformers, and all the ones in the middle that have the red background are Star Wars/Marvel/DC/Turtles/Clash of Clans/Game of Thrones. Basically, it's the rest of my favorite super hero/comic things. Best way to display them is using LEGOS! Since our last post; I've made significant progress. I have a new couch coming in today to tie the room up together. I have tons of Transformers/Star Wars/Marvel/DC toys and memorabilia that is ready to be displayed and hung up. I've been collecting them for the past few months in preparation for this weekend. I know you are thinking "why does he have all that non-transformer crap?" Well, not only do I love transformers, I'm totally into Marvel/DC. My wife is a Star Wars that is obsessionally obsessed! The deal is that I would put a few of that in my "geek" cave. No biggie, it's actually really awesome stuff. Unfortunately, the vault has taken a back seat to get my geek cave in perfect condition. That room is such a mess and extremely overwhelming now that I basically just threw everything in there. Good thing is I have plenty of time to get them displayed correctly. I'll have pics up soon so I can show you guys the disaster! Until then, enjoy your weekend, and keep your transformaniac-ism tuned in!
