Shockwave, my 2nd most favorite character of all time has been around since early 1980's. He actually wasn't released to Hasbro first. He was called "Spark-Man" and "Galactic-Man" at some point early on before Hasbro got the name "Shockwave".
There are several "Shockwaves" out there to this day because he was made by Hasbro and a company called Toyco. in Korea. I can't remember if my Shockwave is from Hasbro or Toyco.? He has a rub sign so I'm assuming the he is Hasbro. I'll take a look tonight because I want to know now! My Galactic-Man is Toyco. I know that only because I just fixed him all up. From what I know about Galactic-Man is that he was a Radio Shack exclusive in the early 80's. He's a dark grey color and his eye is red instead of gold. His trigger is noticeably differentI. Other than that he is identical to Shockwave. Honestly, I didn't know he existed until my wife's cousin said he had one! Of course, I was jealous because I didn't have one and I LOVE "G1 Shockwaves" mold! I'd say about a year later he comes over and hands him over to me. I was shocked! He's a little beat up, his tube that attaches to his arm was all crummy and broken BUT the electronics and lights worked perfect!! Stickers were falling off and yellowed. He was used pretty good, and so he should have. He's now in my hands and I ALWAYS make the best of my plastic crack! He now looks like this:

Now this is a generations Grimlock we are looking for!! Very nicely done. It's awesome too to have a fully chromed out Optimus as part the deal. Honestly, Grimlock caught my attention immediately but after I had opened up the box and looked at Optimus...The shiney full out chrome just put a huge smile on my face! He is a great figure to have. Keep in mind, this is a Target exclusive set. If you want a G1 resembling Grimlock, you need to have this for your collection.
My wife and are on the couch watching Game of Thrones and I get a text from my brother-in-law at around 8pm. It says "hey brother, I have a late father's day gift for you. Are you up and around?" Me and my wife looked at each other and said hmmmmmmm....what could this be?? He shows up moments later, assuming that I would say yes lol. He was right, I totally got sucked into what could he possibly have for me that was so important to give it to me immediately. He comes in dressed straight from work and hands me a long tube-looking box and says "here you buddy!" Confusion on my face. I opened it up and he helped me because some clear plastic looking poster was coming out. Took me a minute to figure out that it was this... I nearly sh*t myself!!! It's a silk screen of Optimus Prime from the cartoon show Transformers: Prime! As you all know I have a room filled with plastic crack and everything else Transformers. I had no room in The Vault for this to go. So the fridge it is! It fits perfect! Gives you an idea of how large this thing is. It's time for a bigger house so I can get my trophy cases up from the basement so I can display EVERYTHING in one room. Thank you brother!! Now if my wife could only figure out a way to get me G1 Fortress Maximus haha
Let me start off by saying that you need to go into this movie with an open mind and NO expectations at all. It's Michael Bay, he changes and makes his own plots regardless of what is "supposed" to happen in the transformers world. A lot of it will make you mad, some of it you will be sitting there saying "huh" and most of it you will be, it's transformers on the big screen! As a child you could NEVER dream of seeing your favorite transformers on the big screen. Best of all, there are already 4 of them!!! So please, please if you are a true transformers fan, make your own opinion on it.
With that said, I will be reviewing the movie of what I thought of it. Please do not continue to read as there are going to be major spoilers ahead. From the start of the movie all the way to the very end it was super fast paced. The human drama was very little. Didn't care about the arguments of school and boyfriends between Cade and Tessa (His daughter). Definitely NO SOLDIERS, No Epps, No Lennox, No General Morshower. They didn't even bring them up. Just some mercenaries. Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) - I thought he did a great job, such a pleasant change from Shia LaBeouf. Even though he played an inventor which doesn't seem like a character that he would be, he gets drawn into battles between robots and does a great job of helping the Autobots. Tessa Yeager (Nicola Peltz) - Definitely no Megan Fox! As far as looks. I was very impressed with her though, she was coming across as a strong female lead ... but then once the war started she switched into fear and distress. You can't be strong AND weak. Shane Dyson (Jack Reynor) - Was a pretty good actor. Not bad. Didn't really have much of a role besides a really cool car scene with a supped up rally car. Of course, he is Tessa Yeager (Nicola Peltz) boyfriend. Joshua Joyce (Stanley Tucci) - Starts off by being a bad guy. But is he? Is he a Good guy? or a Bad guy? He starts off as a collaborator with Harold Attinger and vivisector of Transformers (hence bad guy, and also intelligent), but then turns into a hero by saving the seed from Galvatron and by the end of it is offering Cade a job. Harold Attinger (Kelsey Grammer) - He did an excellent job playing the head CIA agent, business partner to Joshua Joyce and go-between between Joyce and Lockdown. His character didn't change throughout the movie. He was used to show Optimus Prime's badass, evil side by getting blown away with his cannon. James Savoy (Titus Welliver) - Second in command bad guy. Great GREAT bad guy! LOVED his character. He plays a good villain in all movies. Perfect fit for this role. Hates Transformers because his sister died in the battle of Chicago. Su Yueming (Bingbing Li) - Minor role, played a Chinese business partner of Joyce BUT with that given she did a superb job. Got her own little kick ass moment where I was like WOW! Knew there would be a scene with her like that but she totally kicked some serious ass. Also, helps that she is quite attractive. Drift - Triple-changer?? No changing from car to helicopter, he just picks one or the other. No explanation given, he just does it. No trans-scanning involved either as both modes appear more than once. Samurai face looks kinda stupid. Not bad overall but could have been better. Crosshairs - Angry Transformer who is happy to kill Bumblebee if it meant he could take over leading the remaining Autobots (before Prime's return). Ends up being a cool Transformer and as he has the scene that all the trailers have of him flying a decepiticon drone and jumping out of it with his double guns shooting. His cape and parachutes out in slow motion. LOVED It! The Dinobots - I put them all in the same category because Bay did the same. Did not have their own personal characters as we all were wishing! They were Prisoners of Lockdown, freed by Prime who then had to beat Grimlock into submission to help save the human race. Have NO lines at all, occasionally a roaring. They are INCREDIBLY MASSIVE on the big screen. Definitely need to see more of them!! Prime - A Murderer. I can't tell you how much I loved the personality update from the previous movies. Completely new character. He is actually sick of all the human crap that Transformers are getting. Took a ton of beatings from the start of the movie, all the way to the end. Lockdown would have taken his spark out if it weren't for the humans. It's revealed he is also a Knight of Cybertron (hence the sword) and he can also fly now. Lockdown - I don't know who I like the most between him and Optimus in this movie. Both were just badass to begin the movie. He works side by side with the CIA to hunt down those who fought in the Battle of Chicago, his main goal however, is to capture Optimus Prime and return him to "The Creators". Galvatron - He was named by the humans, but is Megatron reborn. He was far from the main protagonist in this movie. They used transformer DNA called "Transformium" (Megatron, Leadfoot, and Ratchet) to gain control of transformer metal. Left it wide open for his return for the next installment as he watches Prime fly into space to meet his "creators" Ratchet - Poor, poor Ratchet. All he was doing was listening to Optimus's signal and ended up being hunted down by the humans. He is wounded and unable to escape, allowing Lockdown to murder him. Stinger - Human made Transformer. Copy-cat to Bumblebee. NOT much of a role. Referenced a lot to being "better" than Bumblebee. REALLY beautiful car. Pagani Huayra .It's about $1.3 Million street legal car running a 6.0 liter Mercedes-AMG twin-turbo V12 engine with 700 horsepower that can go from 0 to 100km/h in 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 370km/h. Wow!! Bumblebee - He begins the movie as a modified 1967 Camaro and later trans-scans into a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro concept. He had a HUGE role in TF4. He got more screen time than all the other Autobots combined, except Optimus, of course. I like how most of the new characters were explained. Lockdown's reasoning was very clear! Stinger's reasoning was brilliant! Joshua Joyce (Stanley Tucci) couldn't have been a better actor to play that role. And Megatron's (Galvatron) return..... was way better than what the rumors that were going around. Yes, he was man made but to have him "trick" the humans I think in future films is going to wreak havoc! The only thing I didn't like was how the Dinobots were treated. They weren't even really "Dinobots." They seemed more like Monsters that kinda looked like half dinosaurs and half dragons. What upset me the most was that they were NEVER even called by their names!! How can you have this anticipation and not say their names at least! It's ok not to have them talk this time around but at least address who they are. Bay you really blew your chance on this part of the movie! Other than that, the rest of the movie was just insanse! Riding the dinobots by Optimus, Drift, Bumblebee and Crosshairs was a cool 10 min scene. I really liked the ending, everyone got what they deserved, good and bad. Mark Wahlberg made a big difference as a human leading man, as opposed to Shia LaBeouf, as opposed to Shia being a immature idiot lusting after anything with boobs. Stanley Tucci was very good comic relief. No toilet humor. AT ALL. I was kinda surprised. He just kept it to a few shots of Nicola Peltz's skinny ass. And finally, near the end, Shockwave got 2 eyes!!! WTF!! In conclusion, Rotten Tomatoes can kiss my transforming loving ass!! Everybody giving this film a bad score are just Bayhaters doing it out of spite. This was definitely the best TF movie so far. The way I see it is It was a bigger, badder version of the 1st film, with about half of the human drama. I'm seeing it multiple times this year. At least 4-5 times before I get it on BlueRay. Do yourself a favor, and please go see it. Bay may not have redeemed himself for the previous ones, but it's a very good start. Hopefully, the other 2 of the new trilogy (even though there are rumors that this will not be a trilogy) will be like this, BUT only way better!! There will DEFINITELY be at least 1 more, by the way it ended.... |
