Since our last post; I've made significant progress. I have a new couch coming in today to tie the room up together. I have tons of Transformers/Star Wars/Marvel/DC toys and memorabilia that is ready to be displayed and hung up. I've been collecting them for the past few months in preparation for this weekend. I know you are thinking "why does he have all that non-transformer crap?" Well, not only do I love transformers, I'm totally into Marvel/DC. My wife is a Star Wars that is obsessionally obsessed! The deal is that I would put a few of that in my "geek" cave. No biggie, it's actually really awesome stuff. Unfortunately, the vault has taken a back seat to get my geek cave in perfect condition. That room is such a mess and extremely overwhelming now that I basically just threw everything in there. Good thing is I have plenty of time to get them displayed correctly. I'll have pics up soon so I can show you guys the disaster! Until then, enjoy your weekend, and keep your transformaniac-ism tuned in!
We recently bought a house for ourselves. We needed something to raise our little girl in, rather than a 2 family. Now that I am all moved in, I have an entire basement to myself. It's going to take a little while to get it up and going. But mainly, I have a separate room for the "plastic crack" toys. It's coming along VERY nicely! Along with a new room comes new updated pics of all my G1 toys! YES!! Finally, I can transform, take pics, and transform again! It'll probably be the last time in my life time I ever do this, especially to these particular toys. I have old beat ones that my daughter can play with. I'm nervous as it is since they are over 25 years old now. Enough rambling. I present to you my G1 Optimus Prime:
For the past 3 weeks or so I've been working on a pretty complicated and tiny project. They are called Metal Earth by fascinations. You build little 4" transformers, about the size of Legends, out of metal! They are the most fascinating thing ever invented! (No pun intended lol) They do require a lot of patience and time. You need to use your imagination in rounding the metal piece where needed. Lots of bending and tiny, tiny little tabs that hold it all together. No glue required. Right now they have Optimus, Soundwave, Bumblebee, and Megatron released. I'm sure they will have lots more coming. I have half way done with Soundwave at home. At work, I just completed Optimus. I'm VERY impressed in the quality, and most of all the detail is amazing! G1 Optimus all the way!
Fantastic! As a gamer this is a dream come true. Never would have thought in a hundred years I'd see a transforming playstation, let alone optimus prime! Takara has been impressing me since they started the whole masterpiece line. It's one thing after another...Hasbro where are you??
I finally got a chance to take a few pictures of my updated Toyhax labels. We will start with Masterpiece Wheeljack. His alt mode got the biggest update, making him not worth having without the stickers.
First off, changed the name from "alitalia to alitalla (G1 resemblance) to the entire car. Front, both sides and the wing. Added the Autobot symbol to the front spoiler. Sponsors on the front hood to the left and right.
Sponsor stickers all around. Front side hood, side door is just full of it. Back side. Best of all, I decided to add the rub sign exactly where the G1 wheel jack is. For this masterpiece he really needed that it, for that G1 look.
Rear has enhancement on the lights and of course, a vanity license plate.
In bot mode he got just a couple of stickers on his wrists and inside elbows.
Overall, just a stunning masterpiece and Reprolabels just made it one of the best ever printed! HIGHLY recommend both MP Wheeljack and the Reprolabels to go along with him. I can't stop staring at him every time I enter "the vault".
Because I NEED to have my Combiner Wars to be complete with the RIGHT guys, I had to buy Quickslinger (Slingshot)and Brake-Neck (Breakdown). I don't understand why they had to change their names but they will always be Slingshot and Breakdown to me! These guys are apprenently a limited quantity that you will not find at any Target, Toy R Us, or Walmart. From what I have seen you can only get them online through Robotkingdom.com and most recently post is Amazon.com. I got mine from Robotkingdom and came immediately last week. Not only did both Transformers come in but it came with a sticker sheet that I had seen online a while ago. Before Reprolabels, I said I had to have it but had no way of obtaining it. I gave up and Reprolabels released a ton of stickers for the Combiner Wars series. Of course, I have them all in my possession waiting patiently to be applied. I compared the two and said there is no need for the Hasbro sticker sheet. Reprolabels has done a way better job in the detail and placement of the stickers that I am going to pass on using Hasbro's. With that said, I have them up on Ebay. Please check out my auction. Click here for the following link. Happy Bidding! I am going to post what they look like so you don't waste your time if you aren't interested.
I'm still alive and collecting like crazy! Life with a 1 year has consumed every waking up moment that I have had. Especially planning for a 1 year birthday party for your dautghter. Now that time is back in my hands a bit, I can get back to my passion. Of course, I haven't stop buying plastic crack. It hasn't been as fun because I've been buying and they go straight to "The Vault." Also, my new obsession is Reprolabels. Wow, what a difference will your classics/generations look after applying these stickers! Right now masterpiece Ultra Magnus is getting an uplift. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this set from them. I can't wait to put pics up of him before and after. You will fall out of your chair. Of course, if you haven't bought or seen what he looks like with Reprolabels on him. I bought my first few of the combiner wars. Now here's the thing with this line...When I think of combiner wars, I think of only all the combiners. Nope, they have to release more Optimus's/Megatron's/Thundercracker's/Etc....Well, I'm not! I am strictly going for all the combiners. I'm dying to have these massive deluxe combiners on my shelves next to my generations/classics lines! It's about time Hasbro!! Devastator looks sooooooooooooo incredible! He is going to be steep money but he will be worth every penny! Him next to my Generations Metroplex is going to take up a ton of space (drooling).
I'm not sure how many people buy reprolabels stickers. I'm a huge fan of them. I saw with their last update with the Kre-O cassettes and immediately bought them! Not realizing until I had them in my possession that there were two pages full of characters I've NEVER heard of! Sundor was the only one other than your popular Frenzy, Buzzsaw, Ratbat, etc. I started to look them up online and read a bit about them just out of curiosity. Come to find out these were real toys that were special releases. I've always wanted Sundor. I found the only one on Ebay and he came with Gilt and Rosanna as a "KISS PLAYERS" package. No idea. Japanese animated chicks with a CD of songs. Big deal! I wanted my plastic crack!
Me? I'm a Transformaniac through and through. I've been collecting for over 20 years and my collection is starting to outgrow "The Vault"! I collect, maintain and refurbish my Transformers and I am always looking for new (and old) ones to add to my 1000+ plus collection. Feel free to check out my collection, as it's ever-growing and I'll be updating my blog with new Transformers as soon as I get them.
